Wholesale Herring Roe on Kelp
The Kitasoo people have lived in this region for thousands of years and have harvested herring roe on kelp as a major food source for their own community members and to trade with neighbouring communities and sell to the world market. This is a time honored and annual harvest that has been carefully managed for centuries by the community to ensure its sustainability. Kitasoo Seafoods has operated 3 commercial licences since the 1970’s these include J-15, J-17 and J-28. All these licenses have been known and recognized in Japan and North America for high quality.
In May or June each year Kitasoo Seafoods will list on this web site the grade and quantity of herring roe on kelp available for sale from each license. The product will be available in Vancouver for viewing at schedule times through this period. Kitasoo Seafoods is currently selling wholesale quantities only and each customer must purchase a minimum of 5,000 pounds per order. If a buyer wants to pre-order, please contact us at any time during the year. All sales are FOB Vancouver at the storage plant and the customer must arrange pick-up and delivery of the product after purchase.
